I took some time today to read the interview with Michael Mayer i posted earlier this week in the Linkage section of this blog. The following part grabbed my attention:
We’re working heavily on our own MP3 shop which should be ready in March or April. You’ll be able to buy the whole Kompakt catalogue there, plus our vast selection of exclusively distributed labels. More and more other interesting labels join us these days and you’ll also be able to find very rare stuff like the early Profan catalogue and other classics.
This will mean very very bad things for my credit card i’m afraid. I kind of expected them to use Warp’s Bleep, but it looks they’ll be setting up their own infrastructure. I think it has the potential to become bigger than Bleep, but it all depends on the user friendliness of the shop and, of course, the price per track/album. I think Bleep is one of the best mp3 shops right now in the userfriendly department, especially compared to the dreadful Nufonix. They have a couple of nice tracks on Nufonix (not as much as on Bleep), but usability is terrible. Anyway, a Kompakt mp3 shop might be interesting to say the least…

They are 224 to 320 kbps CBR mp3 files.
